The moment that we stop challenging ourselves is the moment we stop growing and is the moment that we start dying. It’s humans nature to seek comfort and safety but out of comfort comes boredom. Being bored is never a good thing since boredom produces a lot of negative habits such as eating too much or over indulging in social media, endless Netflix binge watching which eventually results in the lack of determination. A lack of determination makes us stagnant and bored with life. Challenges help us to grow and to keep life new and exciting.
It’s not going to be easy to challenge yourself, it is going to be:
- Uncomfortable – you’re going to hate it and want to return to your comfort zone
- Embarrassing– you may feel that everyone is watching (not true)
- Anxiety triggering – you may feel stress and tense
- Frustrating – you may get upset with yourself or even people around you
To avoid becoming bored to death, take new challenges everyday or create challenges for yourself. It could be as simple as reading more, learning something new, begin writing in a journal, pushing yourself to run/walk an extra mile or take a class on a subject you’ve never studied before.
Facing challenges helps you to:
- Learn new skills
- Become more confident
- Build character
- Believe in yourself
- Take you to new places or new experiences
- Meet new people
Nothing with value comes easy.

You will have to find comfort in the comfort. With that being said, challenge accepted.
