With the recent world events, strengthening your immune system is important for your health and safety. While the world waits for a vaccine or some miracle pill to ward off the virus, we can speed up the process by helping ourselves.
A healthy immune system fights off colds, flus and infections. It shortens the length of time of being sick and possibly the severity of sickness. It may determine whether you get sick or not. It is also an underlining factor in many allergies.
Here are 9 ways to strengthen your immune system…
- Diet – Eat a diet full of fresh veggies and fruits
- Exercise – Try to move your body everyday
- Sleep – Get at least 7 to 8 hours
- Reduce stress – Meditate, read, listen to music
- Drink plenty of water – Drink 64 ounces a day (8, 8 ounces or a 2 liter)
- Vitamins – Consider taking vitamin D and zinc
- Spend time in Nature – Nature is the best medicine
- Avoid alcohol – Not a popular opinion but alcohol decreases the immune system
- Avoid sugar – Avoid refined sugar and processed foods
Although it is important to wear a mask at the moment for the sake of potentially spreading the virus, I want to once again live in a world free of social distancing and hand sanitizer. To do so, let’s work on health, fitness, and ultimately improving the immune system. This can only help us to fight off any future illnesses.
